Part time work at McDonalds

So, with every online dating profile is a catchphrase. A few words to describe yourself that can be seen above your photograph to grab potential suitors’ attention. Writing this tagline always gets me stressed out. I’m not exactly succinct. And I have lots to say. So what’s the best thing I can say in 10 words or less that’s going to pique someone’s interest? And not just any someone. Someone I would actually want to date.

I suppose I could go with a literary reference. “Where the Wild Things Are”. But will they think I haven’t read a book since I was 5?

Perhaps a movie reference is better. “Life is like a box of chocolates. You never know what you’re going to get”. This should be enough to make Forrest run. Besides, I don’t think I could sit through this movie again, so that would be a bad way to meet my future partner.

How about a commercial? “Leggo My Eggo”, “As seen on TV”, “Attention Kmart Shoppers” or what about “Act now and you’ll receive a second Slap Chop free”? Will he think I watch too much TV? Of course, that would probably be true, but that doesn’t have to be the first thing he sees.

I could go with the non-tagline: “Insert Clever Headline Here” or “Headline Schmeadline”. Lazy.

What about a food reference like “Salty and Sweet”, “Sugar and Spice” or “I can’t believe it’s not butter”?

Or musings of why I’m here: “Why Not?”, “We have nothing to lose”, “Just trying this out”. No way. Commit!

Do “For Rent”, “No annual fee”, and “To the highest bidder” make me seem like too much of a hooker?

This could go on forever. There’s no right answer, and I’ve already wasted too much time. I settle on “Do you want fries with that?” and toss it like a time bottle into the interweb’s ocean.

And what comes sailing back to my shores?

Would you like to super size that?

I guess I asked for it…
